Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
